What is TriCord

TriCord is based on Ecclesiastes 4:12, ”And one standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer; three is even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” TriCords are small accountability groups consisting of at least two, but not more than four men (men with men) or women (women with women) who meet weekly.  These men or women meet at coffee shops, homes, parks, offices, wherever is comfortable and familiar.

Meetings give encouragement, support and accountability, in an atmosphere of confidentiality, through trusting relationships with other men or women. In Section One of the journal, we discuss how to get started.  Included in Section Two are complete guidelines for each meeting. ”Journal My Journey” is a reminder to spend time in God’s Word and in prayer every day.  In Section Three is a complete outline of the “Twelve Characteristics of a Godly Life.” TriCord meetings are not to be used as Bible Studies or Book Studies. Study groups have a different function and focus.

Example of a TriCord meeting:

1.  Open in prayer

2.  Read Scripture (each week a different person can share a scripture)

3.  Discuss the Scripture

4. Share the previous week’s successes and failures for prayer and accountability

5.  Discuss the accountability questions

6.  Ask for new prayer requests

7.  Decide on what accountability will be required for next week

8.  Pray together and agree to pray for each other every day during the next week

Men or women who become TriCord members benefit from the new relationships they develop. They benefit from helping others work out situations, previously thought hopeless and create new trust and honor. The families of the TriCord members benefit by witnessing that their loved one is growing significantly in Christ. TriCord will bring hope to any man or women, no matter where he or she is in his or her walk with God.

Each man or woman in the TriCord should have his or her own TriCord Journal. Included in Section Two are complete guidelines for 52 meetings. ”Journaling My Journey” is a reminder to spend time in God’s Word and in prayer every day. These are tools to help each man or woman in the TriCord accomplish his or her purpose of becoming more Christ-like.

TriCord journals can be obtained in our bookstore.

Christian Mentors Network

It is CMN's vision to equip Christ-centered mentors worldwide. We believe that mentoring is like coaching. In fact, mentoring is sometimes referred to as being a Spiritual Life Coach. We prefer the term "Mentor/Discipler." A Mentor/Discipler is simply a more experienced follower who imparts to another believer the knowledge, skill, and truths to grow in Christ while affecting the believer's character and behavior. We call this process Mentor/Discipler Training. We look forward to partnering with you as we continue to serve the Lord through Christian Mentors Network.
